Now, I really learnt this the hard way, but I am going to put it my experience with place page verification in a plate for you. I personally hate the snail mail verification option and will take phone and sms verification at any time, provided that it appears as an option. Well, there is a way to make sure that phone or sms verification options do appear – you just need to know a few things.

Here is one more aspect of google continually upgrading its Google Places technology – well, in this case, it is probably downgrading, but for a good reason.
I am not sure if everyone is experiencing the same, however recently when I claimed a place page for one of my clients, the options for phone verification (mobile, sms and local line) were all missing and I was forced to use physical snail mail. It has been close to 2 weeks and we are waiting for the post to arrive.
